Piece Story

Yipin Bamboo Segment

Bamboo Brings Peace.
The pot body is fashioned as a bamboo tube, adorned with three raised bamboo node rings, each segment rising upwards. Both the spout and handle are sculpted as bamboo branches, while the lid is embellished with delicate bamboo leaves, evoking a sense of whispering winds with every node and rhythm. The Xuehua Green Clay, a unique variety of green clay, is crafted by blending Ben-shan Green Clay with a small amount of metallic oxides, resulting in a deep, cyan-green hue that is both fine and dense. When seasoned, it develops a warm, translucent luster, making it ideal for a summer tea table. Chen Kangfei is known for his signature use of multi-colored clays, and his green clay works are particularly refreshing—the bamboo-segment design paired with the pine-smoke color creates a harmonious union of form and hue.
Best for: Green tea, light oolong tea, and white tea.
Perfect for: Those who admire the refined integrity of bamboo, especially for summer tea gatherings.

Maker Profile

Chen Kangfei

Male, born in 1990 in Yixing, Jiangsu Province. An Arts and Crafts Master, he has been deeply interested in Zisha pottery since childhood, influenced by the ceramic art of his predecessors. In 2008, he became a student of Mr. Lu Hao, a Research-level Senior Arts and Crafts Master and a renowned artist in Jiangsu Province, and began designing and creating Zisha teapots. He has conducted in-depth research and innovation regarding Zisha teapot decoration. In 2015, he founded the "Miaotaozhai" pottery studio. By utilizing the colors of five-colored clay and infusing his works with personal emotion, he emphasizes variations in patterns and balances both square and round forms, establishing a unique style. His works are primarily focused on round, plain vessels; the overall forms are archaic and elegant, robust and precise, with fluid and harmonious lines. His creations are refined, understated, and profoundly elegant. Representative works include: "Guifei Swing-handle Teapot," "Lotus Seed Teapot," "Bamboo-joint Swing-handle Teapot," and "Chuanlu Teapot," among others.
