Piece Story

Adding Flowers to Brocade

Living in simplicity and silence.
The pot body is a perfect sphere, entirely unadorned save for a single undulating line along the rim, like a gentle ripple stirred by a breeze across still water. With its low, humble knob, short spout, and circular handle, the piece exudes a minimalist aesthetic. The Zizhu (Purple Vermilion) clay is stable and densely grained; containing a higher iron content than standard purple clay, it boasts a muted ocher-red hue that glows from within, deepening with every use. Liu Hao, a student of the senior master Lu Hao, is skilled in both plain and ornate styles, particularly adept at relief and modeling techniques—yet here, he takes the opposite approach, showcasing a blank canvas where there is nowhere to hide, revealing the true mastery of form and material.
Best for: Oolong, Pu-erh, and Kung Fu tea.
Ideal for: Those who appreciate understated beauty and admire the technical perfection required to craft a seamless, unadorned vessel.
