About QIJIAN

Through Objects, See the World.
Beginning with Yixing teapots, QIJIAN looks to objects shaped by hands, materials, and time around the world. We believe every honest work of craft offers a way into a place, a culture, and a way of life.

From One Kind of Clay
to Crafts Around the World
QIJIAN began with an appreciation for Yixing teapots.
Clay takes shape in the maker's hands and becomes a vessel through fire. It reminds us that an object holds more than its form and function: it carries a maker's understanding of the material and the knowledge of a place built over generations.
Yixing is QIJIAN's first chapter, not its final destination. We will continue to seek work rooted in craft traditions around the world and made for contemporary life.

An Object,
and the World Behind It
We care about an object's form, material, technique, and detail—and where it comes from and why it was made. Geography, reputation, and trends are never our only measures. We value honest materials, sound craftsmanship, and the possibility of an object becoming part of real life.
We also want to tell each piece's story as clearly as we can, so that makers and owners meet through understanding as well as through the object itself.

We photograph every listed piece individually and record its materials, craft, dimensions, maker or studio, and accompanying documents when that information is available and verifiable. We do not make claims beyond what we can confirm.
Our records respect the individuality of each object and help you see the specific piece before choosing it.
