Piece Story

Yizhu

Eggplant-purple Ningguang.
The teapot body is spherical, unadorned by any pattern, save for a single bamboo leaf on the lid as a knob, resembling a crescent moon—the mark of a humble gentleman; with a short spout and a rounded handle, it remains true to its simple essence. Eggplant-purple clay is a variety of purple clay, characterized by a color like eggplant skin—a brownish purple. It has a steady temperament and a texture as fine as skin, capable of developing a mirror-like luster through long-term use. Wang Xiaoyun is renowned for hoarding aged clay; he possesses stocks of original ore Factory One aged purple clay, aged Di Cao Qing, and dark green clay. As he himself puts it, he "experiments with various multi-colored clays"—and this eggplant-purple is one of his secret hues. A simple, plain pot that best showcases the serene quality of aged clay.
Best for: Pu-erh, Oolong, and Black tea.
Ideal for: Those who love deep eggplant-purple hues and value the preservation of aged clay.
